A memorial service for Harold (Johnny) Johnson, 86, of Killdeer, will be 3:00 p. m. , Friday, August 7, 2015 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Killdeer with Pastor Rachel Simonson officiating. Burial will take place in Oakdale Cemetery. An additional memorial service will be held on Orcas Island, Washington September 26th. Harold passed away after an extended illness on Monday, August 3, 2015 at Hill Top Home of Comfort in Killdeer. Harold was born June 4, 1929 in Yakima, WA, the son of Clifford and Florence (Doherty) Johnson Kinney. Growing up he attended and graduated from school in Selah, WA. Harold started his plumber’s apprenticeship in the Tri-Cities. In 1950, he joined the US Army and served two years in Korea. Harold married Lois Dainard in September of 1951. They were blessed with two children, Nancy in 1952 and Gary in 1954. Harold finished his apprenticeship and moved to Seattle, WA where he owned Johnson Plumbing & Heating before moving to Orcas Island, WA. He was a plumber for 50 years. Harold married Gloria Quilliam Bang on May 6, 1979. They resided on Orcas. To this union, three children joined the family- Susan Toroni, Corinne Davis and Morey Bang. Harold and Gloria retired to Killdeer where he was very involved with his extended family. He enjoyed boating, fishing, crabbing, gardening, attending youth sporting events, and playing cards (especially pinochle). In 2012, Hill Top Home of Comfort became home for Harold. Harold is survived by his wife, Gloria; sons, Gary Johnson of Seattle, WA, Morey Bang of Maricopa, AZ; daughters, Nancy Johnson of Seattle, WA, Susan Toroni of Redding, CA, and Corinne Davis of Medora, ND. He is also lovingly survived by 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and the many extended family and friends who were honored to call him Grandpa. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Florence Johnson; son-in-law, Con Davis; nephew, Mike Taylor; brother, Clifford Johnson; and sister and brother-in-law, Lyle and Barbara Taylor.
