Funeral Service for Harold Lien, 87, of New England, ND will be 10:00 a. m. Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church, New England, ND, with Pastor Bruce Peterson officiating. Burial will be in the Our Redeemer?s Lutheran Cemetery with Military Rites by Anton Ulijohn Post #66 of New England. Visitation will be from 9:00 a. m. to 9:00 p. m. Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson, with a Prayer Service being held at 7:00 p. m. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, one hour prior to the service at the Our Redeemer?s Lutheran Church, New England. Harold passed away Thursday, July 14, 2011 at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Health Center, Dickinson. Harold Raymond Lien grew up and attended country school near Havelock, ND. He helped and worked with his parents on the family farm near New England. As a young man he was inducted into the United State Army in 1945 serving in the south Pacific Theater. He was Honorably discharged in 1946. Harold returned to the Regent area to pursue his career in farming. On February 6, 1948 Harold married Dorothy Shern at Our Redeemer?s Lutheran Church in New England. To this union was born Sharon, Donna, Sandra, Lyle, Ruth, Lori, Alton, Rita, Kevin, Carla, and Curtis. They farmed and raised their family southwest of Regent. Together they moved into New England in 1990 and have made their home there ever since. Harold truly enjoyed being a farmer. He also loved playing cards, fishing, dancing, bowling and old time music. Harold served proudly as a member of Farmers Union, Township Supervisor, Anton Ulijohn Post #66 of New England, was also a member of Our Redeemer?s Lutheran Church, New England. Harold is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dorothy; his children, Sharon (Denis) Wells, Box Elder, SD; Donna (Jim Sticka), Dickinson, ND; Sandra Lien, San Angelo, TX; Lyle (Pat) Lien, Hettinger, ND; Ruth Klein, Fairfield, ND; Lori (Steven) Privratsky, Hettinger, ND; Alton (Tammy) Lien, Regent, ND; Rita (Bill) Frank, Dickinson, ND; Kevin (Terri) Lien, Dickinson, ND; Carla (Jim) Messer, Mandan, ND; Curtis Lien, Spokane, WA; 20 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded by both of his parents, brother Oscar Lien; Sisters, Ragna Halvorson, Thelma Johnson, Myrtle Strand; grandsons, Cody and Dustin Perfett; great-grandson, Jaxon Wiederholt.
