Harold passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2011, at Fallon Medical Complex in Baker. Harold Leroy Tronstad was born on June 10, 1924, a son of Hans and Albina (Hansen) Tronstad at the Tronstad homestead near Webster in southeastern Fallon County. He grew up on the family ranch and attended country school. Harold met Jeanette Ellen Shiskowsky and the two were married on May 1, 1948 in Baker, MT. Following their marriage they made their home on the Hans Tronstad homestead where they raised their family. Harold enjoyed ranching and took great pride in raising ?shinny? cattle and having good horses. Along with his cattle and horses, Harold was most comfortable with a good horse, a good saddle, good boots and a sharp felt hat. He was a true steward of the land. Harold and Jeanette were members of American Lutheran Church in Baker. Harold was an accomplished musician. He enjoyed playing his electric steel, bass and acoustic guitars. He enjoyed getting together with family, friends and neighbors on a Saturday night and playing guitar while Jeanette played the piano. In later years, Harold developed a knack for rock work and spent many hours cutting and polishing agate rocks. He eventually turned his talent from rocks to woodworking where he made many nice wood items for family and friends. Having a good eye for saddles, Harold liked to visit saddle shops on his travels where he would always find a saddle that was just a little better than the one he had. Harold enjoyed all of his hobbies and talents but his greatest love in life was for his family. He was extremely proud of his children, grandchildren and great-grandson. Survivors include his children, John (Clarice) Tronstad, Baker, MT, Mikell Tronstad, Rapid City, SD and Patricia Tronstad, Tucson, AZ; four grandchildren, Destiny Hoyle, Chad Tronstad, Trevor Mackenzie Tronstad Jones and Derek Fendrock; one great-grandson, Jaxson Tronstad; two sisters, Beatrice Knudsen, Billings, MT and Gladys (Dwight) Wicker, Casper, WY; three brothers, Alvin (Mavis) Tronstad, Kalispell, MT, Rich (Fern) Tronstad, Fort Shaw, MT and Floyd (Irene) Tronstad, Billings, MT; his special friend, Ruby Pahl and numerous nieces and nephews. Harold was preceded in death by parents, Hans and Albina, his wife, Jeanette, a daughter, Kathleen Faye Tronstad and a baby grandson. At the family?s request, in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Lutheran Church, O?Fallon Museum or the charity of their choice.
