Funeral services for Harriet Tisor, 85, of Dickinson will be 10:00 a. m. , Monday, June 7, 2010, at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Dickinson with Pastor Lisa Lewton officiating. Burial will be 1:30 p. m. at the Medora Cemetery in Medora, ND.
Visitation for Harriet will be 12:00 p. m. to 9:00 p. m. Sunday, June 6, 2010, at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson with a prayer service at 4:00 p. m.
Harriet passed away on Friday, June 4, 2010, surrounded by her family at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Dickinson.
Harriet Margaret Ruf was born June 11, 1924, to Carl and Alma (Esby) Ruf. She grew up on the family ranch and attended country grade school. After graduating from Belfield High School, Harriet received her teaching certificate and taught at several country schools in the area. She later went to beauty school and worked as a beautician for several years. On September 9, 1948, she married Leo I. Tisor. The couple made their home in Dickinson and raised their family. In 1973, she began working at St. Joseph’s Hospital as a radiology aide. After retiring, she enjoyed visiting with her friends over a cup of coffee and spoiling her grandkids. She also enjoyed lively conversations. Harriet is well known for making her famous sugar cookies and cut outs, and decorating Easter eggs. Harriet was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary as well as a leader of Bluebirds, and Campfires.
She is survived by her husband, Leo; son, Lee (Garnet) Tisor, Dickinson; daughter, Audrey (Terry) Shirley, Williston; grandchildren, Erica (Dennis) Healy, Jessica Tisor, Logan Tisor, and Morgan Tisor; great-grandchildren, Reese and Brian Healy; sister-in-law, Doris Ruf; borther-in-law and sister-in-law Les and Ruby Tisor; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Russell Ruf; sister and brother-in-law, Inez and Maynard Fritz; grandson, Brian Shirley; and great-granddaughter, Lilly Jo Tisor.
