Harriet Mae Samuelson was born to Clement and Alma Samuelson on August 7, 1934 in Williston, ND. She graduated from Brockton High School in 1952 and from Columbus School of Nursing in Great Falls, MT in 1955. While working as a nurse in Wolf Point, MT, Harriet met a young man named James Wellenstein. The couple was united in marriage on July 7, 1956. Harriet and Jim settled in Glasgow, MT to raise their three children: Doug, Joan and Janet. Harriet enjoyed working part-time at the hospital and nursing home while Jim worked for MDU. In 1971, Jim was transferred to the Dickinson office. The couple have made Dickinson their home ever since. Harriet was a very talented lady. Her fun and spontaneous personality was a joy to everyone she came in contact with. The family has many special memories of Harriet and Jim dancing the Jitterbug in the living room, her tap dancing, and singing “Anchors Away” and “Honeycomb” in the kitchen. Her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren brought her tremendous joy. Harriet’s legacy to her family is the unconditional love she had for each one of them. Harriet was the last surviving member of her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Gordon, Donny, Wally and Vic; sisters, Lois and Carol; grandson, Ryan Bares; and her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
