Funeral Services for Harry Gustafson, 89, of Halliday are Wednesday, October 15, 2003, 11:00 a. m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Timothy Voth, officiating. Interment will follow in Halliday Cemetery.


Visitation is Tuesday from 2:00 p. m. to 7:00 p. m. at Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel.


Harry passed away October 11, 2003 at Knife River Care Center in Beulah.


Harry was born June 5, 1914, in Halliday, ND to Oscar and Alice (Johnson) Gustafson. He was born and raised on the family homestead in Halliday. On June 7, 1945, in Seattle, WA Harry married Alpha Dahl of Mandan. Together they made their home on the family farm near Halliday.


Harry sold seed corn for over 50 years. Harry belonged to the following organizations: American HerefordAssociation, ND Stockmans Association, Halliday Senior Citizens (He enjoyed going to the meals and the fellowship received there), St. Luke’s Home Board, Badlands Ministry Board. He was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church of Halliday and attended Prince of Peace Lutheran Church of Beulah. Harry loved to ride horses, raise Hereford cattle and enjoyed the outdoors. His faith was most important to him. He was instrumental in the activities of the New Life Bible Camp.


Harry is survived by his three sons: David (Vicki) Gustafson of Baker, MT, Robert (Patricia) Gustafson of Casper, WY, and Mark Gustafson (Special Friend, Barbara Elmquist) of Halliday; a daughter, Ruth (Dale) Backstrom of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada; ten grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren.


His parents; wife, Alpha; brother, William; and sister Helen preceded him in death.
