Harry Theiss

The Reverend Harry R. Theiss, age 79, of Glen Ullin, died peacefully at his home on Sunday, December 3, 2006. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Central time on Wednesday, December 6, 2006 at Zion Lutheran Church, in Glen Ullin with the Rev. Loren Strum, officiatiing. Visitation will begin on Tuesday at 4:00 PM at Spangelo Funeral Home in Glen Ullin with a prayer service at 7:00 PM Central. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church. Harry R. Theiss was born August 9, 1927 in Wittenberg, Missouri, the son of Paul and Clara (Hilpert) Theiss. He was on a farm and attended a parochial school not far from the farm. He attended St. Paul?s Lutheran High School in Concordia, MO, and after graduation attended and graduated from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis. The Reverend Theiss received a call to Zion Lutheran Church in Glen Ullin, ND in 1953. While in Glen Ullin he met Caroline Opp. They were married on February 6, 1955 at Zion Lutheran. In 1957 the Reverend Theiss?s ministry led him to Halliday, ND where he continued his ministry at St. Paul Church in Halliday and St. James in Golden Valley until 1993 when he retired and moved to Glen Ullin. Even in retirement Reverend Theiss continued to share the love of Jesus whenever the opportunity arose. The Reverend Theiss is survived by his wife Caroline, Glen Ullin; his brothers: Paul (Helen), Uniontown, Missouri; and Reverend Louis (Marie Anna), Perryville, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Gilbert.
