Funeral Service for Harry Tronstad, 69, of Baker, MT will be at 2:00 p. m. on Monday, November 19, 2012, at American Lutheran Church in Baker, MT. Interment will follow in the family lot in Bonnievale Cemetery at Baker, MT.
Visitation will be 4:00 p. m. to 7:00 p. m. on Sunday, November 18th at Stevenson Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Harry passed away on Wednesday, November 14, 2012, at Quality Personal Care in Baker, MT.
Arthur Harry Tronstad was born on August 27, 1943, in Baker, MT the son of Arthur and Frances Leona (Burke) Tronstad. Harry grew up on the family ranch in the Knobs community south of Baker. He attended the Prairie Rose country school and high school in Baker where he graduated. Following his graduation, Harry went to California where he attended heavy equipment school. He returned to Baker where he worked at the O & M Elevator and Cate Welding. Eventually Harry returned to the Tronstad Ranch working with his parents. Harry met Jean Marie Hanley, and the two were married on July 10, 1965, in Whitefish, MT. Harry and Jean were blessed with two children: Leroy and Cindy. Harry and Jean made their home on the ranch where they raised their children. Harry enjoyed his life as a rancher and farmer. Throughout his life, Harry strived to teach the importance of hard work and sound family values to his children and grandchildren. Besides ranching and farming, Harry was active in the community as a member of the Southeastern Montana Stock Growers Association; member of the Baker Rural Fire; served on the Equity Coop Elevator Board, Fallon County Fair Board. Harry also served as a Deputy State Brand Inspector and was a weather observer for the National Weather Service for over 45 years. Besides keeping a daily diary of his activities, Harry enjoyed coffee time and visiting with his family, friends and neighbors. Harry was an avid rodeo fan and enjoyed watching and attending the sport. Branding time and haying were special times of the year as well. In his spare time Harry enjoyed being ?grandpa? and following his grandchildren?s events. Harry is survived by his wife, Jean of Baker, MT; his two children, Leroy (Cynthia) Tronstad and Cindy (Gary) Irgens both of Baker, MT; nine grandchildren, Pamela Tronstad, Brooklyn Tronstad, Chantel Tronstad, Rachel Tronstad, Raye Tronstad, Tiara Tronstad, Justin Irgens, Dustin Irgens and Carleigh Irgens all of Baker, MT; his sister, Gail Brockbank of Helena, MT and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Frances, and a sister, Jeanette.
