A funeral service for Harvey Aldean Schatz, 74, of Mandan, will be 2:00 p. m. , Friday, July 22, 2016 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson. Burial will be at Bethesda Cemetery, rural Richardton. Visitation for Harvey will be from 8:00 a. m. to 2:00 p. m. , Friday at the funeral home. Harvey passed away Sunday, July 17, 2016 at his home in Mandan. Harvey Aldean was born November 6, 1941 in Stark County, south of Antelope, the son of Emanuel and Pauline (Heiple) Schatz. Growing up he went to country school and later attended school in Elgin, ND. Harvey was inducted into the US Army and served during Vietnam. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Dickinson. Harvey later moved to Richardton before making his final home in Mandan. He enjoyed playing the accordion, playing cards, and spending time with his family. Harvey enjoyed camping outdoors with his nephews and nieces and especially enjoyed attending Christmas programs. Harvey worked for Robert Martin in Mott in the concrete business, later going to work for Trimline for several years. Through the years he worked for various business and contractors in the Dickinson, Richardton, Hebron, Mandan and Bismarck areas. In his later years, he enjoyed traveling with his special friend, Elaine Boozeny, and helping out on her son’s farm along with his nephew George. Harvey enjoyed the company of his beloved dog “Mitch”. Harvey is survived by his special friend, Elaine Boozeny of Butte, ND; daughters, Nicole (Wayde) Ackinson of Lemmon, SD, Nina Kolling of New England; brother, Leo (Angie) Schatz of Dickinson; sisters, Viola Hummel of Mott, Betty (Leonard) Steckler of Dickinson, Shirley Hoffmeyer of Valley City, Jane Mayer of Richardton; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emanuel and Pauline Schatz; and brother, Marvin Schatz.
