Harvey passed away peacefully at his home on the ranch with his family at his side.

Harvey Paul Wehri was born July 29, 1941 at Hebron, ND, the third child of Joseph and Barbara (Berger) Wehri. He received his elementary education at St. Clement’s, attended Abbey High School in Richardton for three years, and graduated from Glen Ullin High School in 1959. He later attended Dickinson State College where he studied accounting. Harvey’s first job was as an assistant to the area auditor for grain elevators. Following that job, he worked as a teller at the Bank of Glen Ullin and First National Bank of Mandan. It was there that he met Carol Gustin. Harvey and Carol were married on July 1, 1965 in St. Anthony, ND. After just three months of marriage, they moved to Plentywood, MT where Harvey served as loan officer/office manager for Production Credit Association. He enjoyed living there for 3 1/2 years before returning to Hebron, ND to help his mother manage the family farm/ranch after the untimely death of his father. Farming and ranching quickly became Harvey’s livelihood. He was proud of the Gelbvieh cattle his family raised and sold as breeding stock. For many years, the ranch was recognized as one of the leading Gelbvieh herds in the country. Harvey was always involved in community organizations and served on many boards. Some of them were Morton County Ag Improvement Association, Beef Cattle Improvement Association, ND Stockmen’s Association, ND Gelbvieh Association, Dakota Resource Council, Morton & Mercer County Fair Boards, Hebron School Board, and Hebron Farmers Elevator where he completed 35 years of service. He was a charter member of the ND Beef Cattle Improvement Association CHAPS program and in later years participated in their Ag-student mentoring program. During Harvey’s lifetime, he was a member of the Jaycees, and Knights of Columbus, served as a 4-H leader and Hebron FFA advisory board member. For 20 years, he worked as a crop adjuster across southwest North Dakota. Crop adjusting was not just a job to Harvey; it was a venture that created many life-long friendships. An avid sportsman, Harvey especially enjoyed his annual deer-hunting trip to the Badlands and the springtime fishing trip to “the big water”. Hunting and fishing with his kids and grandkids were extra special occasions for him. He loved horses and spent time breaking and riding them until hip-replacement surgery required him to give up the sport. For many years he played softball, pitched horseshoes, bowled, and played cards. Harvey was definitely a “people person” and made friends wherever he went. He had a unique way of communicating with all ages. Teasing seemed to be his favorite way and he loved it when people teased him back.

Harvey is survived by his wife Carol; four sons, Brian (Cheryl) of Hebron, Rick (Ann) of Newcastle, WY, Dean (Kristi) of Mott, and Kent (Kristin) of Aurora, CO; one daughter, Susan (Matt) Davids of Dwight, ND; 12 grandchildren, Justin, Alyssa and Ty Wehri of Hebron; Hailey and Cole Wehri of Newcastle, WY; Michael, McKenzi, and Maci Wehri of Mott; Cassie Storo and Ben Davids of Dwight, ND; Kamryn and Payton Wehri of Aurora, CO; seven brothers, Paul, Linus (Kathy), Bernard (Eileen), Virgil (RaDeanna), Irvin (Karen), Leo, and Ray (Janet); two sisters Janice (Leonard) Doll, and Lois (Bob) Geck; one sister-in-law Eileen Wehri; in-laws, Dave Gustin, Judy (Paul) Smith, Pat (Jim) Boehm, Al (Peg) Gustin, and Dennis (Sherry) Gustin; along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Barbara Wehri; one daughter, Anna; one brother, Melvin; one sister, Paulina; father and mother-in-law Adam & Pauline Gustin, two sisters-in-law, Terri and RoseMary Gustin; and grandparents, Albert & Eva Wehri and Jacob & Elizabeth Berger.
