A funeral Mass for Hattie B. Steffan, 91, of Dickinson will be 10:00 a. m. , Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in New Hradec with Father Bill Ruelle celebrating. Burial will take place in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery in New Hradec. Visitation for Hattie will be 1:00 p. m. to 7:00 p. m. , Monday, May 23 at Stevenson Funeral Home with a rosary and vigil service being held at 6:00 p. m. Hattie passed away Friday, May 20, 2016 at St. Luke’s Home in Dickinson. Hattie was born December 26, 1924 in Dickinson, the daughter of Frank W. and Mary L. (Novotny) Tuhy. Growing up she attended country school through the eighth grade and went on to graduate from South Heart High School. Hattie married Mansevtus Steffan on July 3, 1944 in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in New Hradec. They soon purchased a farm, making it home where they raised their eight children, Judy, Gordon, LaVonne, Galen, Joan, Leon, Neal and Nancy. In 1971, Mans and Hattie retired from the farm. Hattie was a devoted mother. Hattie will be remembered for the wonderful noodles she would often make. Hattie enjoyed family gatherings and time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an active member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and was a member of the Christian Mothers. Hattie is survived by her sons, Gordon (Stephanie), Galen, and Neal (Rhonda); daughters, Judy Anderson, LaVonne Bullinger, Joan (Dave) Kudrna, Nancy (John) Stockert; 19 grandchildren and 48 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Tuhy. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Mans; son, Leon; sons-in-law, Larry Bullinger and Chuck Anderson; daughter-in-law, Mavis Steffan; grandson, Shawn Chavez; sister, Amalia (Mollie) Kubas; and brothers, Vince, Laudie and infant Charlie Tuhy.
