Funeral Services for Helen Fischer, 90 of Killdeer will be at 10:00 a. m. , Thursday, December 16, 2010 at St. John?s Lutheran Church in Killdeer with Pastor Joel Sauerwein officiating. Burial will follow at the Oakdale Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 p. m. to 7:00 p. m. on Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Killdeer with a Prayer Service taking place at 5:00 p. m. Helen passed away Saturday, December 11, 2010 at the Hill Top Home of Comfort in Killdeer. Helen Magdelena Plagge was born April 12, 1920 in Dunn County the daughter of Henry and Sabina (Thielman) Plagge. She grew up on the family ranch located north of Killdeer along the Little Missouri River and attended the Mountain View Grade School. On January 29, 1940, Helen married Raymond ?Rex? Fischer in Manning, North Dakota. The couple lived in the Killdeer Mountain area for a year before moving to Vancouver, Washington. In 1945, Helen and Rex returned to the Killdeer area and began to farm north of town. Eventually Helen and Rex made their home in Killdeer where Helen has lived since. In the early 1960?s, Helen began working as a cook at the Killdeer Public Schools where she worked for over 20 years. She was fortunate to live at home until November 10, at which time she moved into Hill top Home of Comfort. Helen loved to laugh and always had a smile on her face that would brighten any room she entered. She loved gardening, canning, playing cards and reading. Helen was a member of the American Legion Auxillary, the Senior Citizens and St. John?s Lutheran Church in Killdeer. Helen is survived by one son, Roger (Sherry) Fischer of Chinook, MT; five daughters, Mary (Wallace) Kowis of Killdeer, ND, Lorna (Burton) Brown of Keene, ND, Sharon Towberman of Glendive, MT, Patsy (Marlin) Brown of Keene, ND and Kaylene (Jim) Reddig of Minot, ND; one brother Bill (Shirley) Plagge of Dickinson; 18 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Sabina Plagge; her husband of 52 years Rex; one son, William ?Buster? Fischer; one daughter, Lynette Fischer; one son-in-law, Melvin Towberman; two sisters, Georgie Guimont and Hattie Plagge and three grandchildren.
