Helen passed away Thursday, March 19, 2015 at CHI St. Joseph’s Health in Dickinson. Helen Marie Rebel was born July 22, 1923 on the Rebel family farm south of Richardton to Anton and Katherine Rebel. Helen grew up on the family farm with nine brothers and sisters; she attended country school for eight years. Helen worked for neighbors and in Dickinson before marrying Harry P. Froehlich on June 10, 1946 at St. Stephen's Catholic Church south of Richardton. Together the couple made their home on the Froehlich family farm northwest of Dickinson in Stark County. In 1953, daughter Harriette entered their lives. They lived there until 1960 when they purchased a ranch north of New Hradec in Dunn County. Helen spent her time raising their daughter and assisting Harry with the operation of the ranch. She baled most of the hay every summer for their livestock. She was a kind and gentle mother and grandmother. She was an excellent cook and baker; her meals were always enjoyed. In 1976, Helen and Harry retired from ranching and moved into Dickinson. They then began traveling, the most memorable being a camping trip to Alaska. Helen enjoyed going to dances, bowling, playing pinochle, crafting, gardening and canning. She was excellent seamstress sewing clothing and creating quilts well into her later years and passed her skills along to her daughter. Helen truly enjoyed the last eight years of her life spent at Evergreen and considered it her home. It was here she embroidered countless sets of dishtowels and played pinochle whenever she could. Helen is survived by daughter, Harriette (Lee) Rebsom of Dickinson, ND; grandchildren, Andrea Rebsom of Bismarck, ND, and Paula (Brian Long) Rebsom of Seattle, WA; great-granddaughter, Lucille Long; brother, Tony Rebel of Richardton, ND; and sisters Katherine Raab Herrington of Dickinson, ND, Marie (George) Morel of New England, ND, Elizabeth Kurtz of Sacramento, CA, and Eleanor (Cliff) Walter of Dickinson, ND.
