A funeral Mass for Helen Marie Haag, 83, of Dickinson will be 10:00 a. m. , Saturday, December 27, 2014 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Dickinson with Msgr. Patrick Schumacher celebrating. Burial will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Visitation for Helen will be from 1:00 p. m. to 7:00 p. m. , Friday, December 26 at Stevenson Funeral Home with a rosary and vigil service being held at 6:00 p. m. Helen passed away Friday, December 19, 2014 at CHI St. Joseph’s Health Center in Dickinson. Helen Marie Wanner was born April 8, 1931 the daughter of Frank J. and Audina (Schaff) Wanner. She grew up on the family farm near Gladstone and attended local country school. Helen worked on the farm and later worked as an aide at St. Joseph’s Hospital. It was during this time that she met Edward Haag and the two were married on September 9, 1950 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dickinson. The couple made their home on a farm near Fairfield where they raised their two girls: JoAnn and Gloria. In 1980, Helen and Ed sold the farm and made their home east of Dickinson for a few years before moving to town. She worked for St. Benedict’s Nursing Center and was an assistant cook for Dickinson Public Schools for 16 years until her retirement. Helen was very active throughout her life, volunteering with various activities throughout the community; including 4-H, Billings County Homemakers, and Catholic Daughters. She enjoyed visiting and playing cards, and was fond of her time spent with her family at the lake home. Helen loved the holidays and never missed a chance to decorate her house for the current season. Helen is survived by her two daughters, JoAnn (James) Sauvageau of Dickinson, ND and Gloria (Val) Kary of Bismarck, ND; grandchildren, Jason (Melissa) Sauvageau of Dickinson, ND, Allison (Shane) Eggl of Alice, ND, Bradley Sauvageau of Mandan, ND, and Angela (Trent) Anderson of St. Michael, MN; six great-grandchildren; and sister Martha Richardson of Levelland, TX; sister-in-law Jean (Eugene) Stockert of Dickinson, ND; brothers-in-law, Martin (Evelyn) Haag, Ralph (Beverly) Haag, Leo Haag all of Dickinson, ND; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Audina Wanner; her husband, Edward Haag; brothers, Edward and Theodore Wanner; three sisters-in-law; two nieces and one nephew.
