Helen passed away July 14, 2019.

Helen Katherine was born November 18, 1930, to Peter and Magdalena (Wehner) Arnold, their eleventh child, at the family farm north of Gladstone, ND. Her mother, Magdalena died the day of the birth. Helen’s godmother, Katherine, and her husband, John Meininger, accepted the child to care for until adulthood, and raised her under the name of Helen Meininger at their farm in Lefor, ND. When Helen was five years of age, the family moved into Dickinson. Helen attended grade school and high school in Dickinson. On March 28, 1948, at the age of 18, Helen married Albert Hassebrock. To this union, two sons were born, Wade and Mark. Helen worked as a bookkeeper for 20 years and advocated for people with special needs. Together Albert and Helen started their own business, “Frontier Glass,” and after 20 years, they sold the business in 1981. Helen and Albert loved to fish and camp together. She also enjoyed knitting, gardening and spending time with her cats and dogs. Helen was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Dickinson. In 1994, Albert passed and Helen continued to make Dickinson her home, until moving to Colorado in 2013 to live with Mark, Carrie and family. Helen is survived by her sons, Wade Hassebrock of Dickinson, ND, and Mark (Carrie) Hassebrock of Frederick, CO; grandchildren, Haley, Hayden, Holden Hassebrock; and one brother, Walter Arnold. She is preceded in death by parents, Peter and Magdalena (Wehner) Arnold and John and Katherine Meininger; sisters, Ann Hamon and Margarite Arnold; half sister Arlene Koller, and brothers, Ernest, Peter, Anton, William, Raymond, John, and Frank Arnold.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Helen’s name to: ABLE, Inc., 1951 1st St West, Dickinson, ND 58601.
