A Celebration of Helen’s Life will be 11:00 a. m. , Friday, November 6, 2015 at the American Lutheran Church in Baker. Friends and family may visit with the family on Thursday, November 5, from 4 to 6 p. m. at the Baker Senior Center. Helen’s wishes were to be cremated and inurnment will take place at a later date. Helen Margaret Jensen, 91, of Baker, Montana, passed away on Friday, October 30, 2015, at Superior Care Villa surrounded by her loving family. She was born to the late Hieronymus and Helga Tunby on November 23, 1923 in Houghton, South Dakota. Helen attended school at the Dry Forks Country School and Baker High School, before attending St. Luke’s School of Nursing in Fargo, North Dakota, where she earned her RN degree. She truly enjoyed her career as a nurse in Baker, retiring at age 70. She was an active member of the American Lutheran Church, which was an important part of her life. She married Delmar Jensen on March 1, 1947. Helen and DJ had six children, Teri, Penny (Tim) Sikorski, Bruce (Jeanne) Jensen, Brian (Debbie) Jensen, Leslie (John) Henson, and Jill Jensen. Family and friends were Helen’s passion and delight. She grew up on the family ranch north of Westmore with her three sisters and four brothers. Family gatherings, coffee with friends, quilting at the church, playing cards, and music were things that she enjoyed. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her infant daughter Teri, her sister, Edith Johnson, and her brother Gordon Tunby. Helen is survived by her husband and children, her brothers, Roy Tunby, Maurice Tunby, Rolf Tunby; and her sisters, Elphie Wood and Marie Moe; her grandchildren, Trevor (Stacy) Sikorski, Taryn Sikorski, Casey (Ashley) Jensen, Kirsten (Byron) Cooper, Jeremy (Shelie) Jensen, Rian (Jodi) Jensen, Carissa (Keaton) Hughes, Hannah, Mika, and Mikey Jensen, Kayla (Justin) Apple, and Tyler Henson; her great grandchildren, Tayden, Maura, and Garritt Sikorski, Rowan Jensen, Tor and Tryg Cooper, Ryan Joe and Arius Jensen, Hailee Cortez, and Apollo Apple; and son-in-law, Steve Hirsch. She leaves behind numerous other relatives and friends. The family wishes to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the Superior Care Villa for their exceptionally compassionate care of Helen, especially during these last weeks; Pastors Reba and Bruce Kolasch; and all of Helen’s friends and relatives. Memorials may be made to the American Lutheran Church in Baker.
