Helen Kadrmas

A private Liturgy of the Word service for Helen Kadrmas, of Dickinson will be held at Stevenson Funeral Home with Deacon Ron Keller celebrating. Burial will take place in the Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck, ND.

Helen passed away in her home on Monday, December 9, 2019.

Helen was born on February 18, 1936 on her parent’s farm in Billings County, daughter to Alex and Pauline (Roller) Meduna. She grew up and attended country schools in Stark County before graduating from Model High in Dickinson. Helen then attended Teachers College in Dickinson and later Dickinson State College where she received her bachelor’s degree. She also later received her Master Degree in Teaching from the University of North Dakota specializing in special education.

Helen married Edwin Kadrmas on June 10, 1958 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. Their marriage was blessed with a son, Eddie. Following their marriage, Helen taught third grade for twenty years at St. Wenceslaus Grade School and later went on to teach special education in Taylor Public Schools for another twenty years before retiring. She loved children and touched many lives over the years. Helen and Edwin made Dickinson home their entire life together. In her summers, she enjoyed gardening both vegetables and flowers.

Helen is survived by her husband of 61 years, Edwin; son, Eddie F. Kadrmas MD, PhD; his wife Kathy, and granddaughter, Cara; and also, sisters, Jean Silbernagel, and Ethel Weimer; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alex and Pauline Meduna; brother, Ray Meduna and his wife, Elaine; sisters, Martha Renner and Gladys Kubischta and her husband John.
