A Funeral Mass for Helen Kostelecky, 98, of Dickinson, will be 10:00 a. m. Monday, May 7, 2012 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dickinson with Father Keith Streifel celebrating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Dickinson.
Visitation for Helen will be 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 6, 2012 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson with a Rosary and Vigil service being held at 4:00 p.m.
Helen passed away Monday, April 30, 2012 at St. Benedict’s Health Center in Dickinson.
Helen B. Hatzenbiler was born February 13, 1914 in Dickinson, the daughter of Peter and Christine (Frenzel) Hatzenbiler. She grew up on the family farm and attended country school. On January 27, 1936, she was united in marriage to Henry W. Kostelecky at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dickinson. To this union, Shirley, Marilyn, Patty, James, Ted, and Ron were born. The family made their home in Dickinson. Helen later became a resident of St. Benedict’s Nursing Home. Helen loved gardening, canning, cooking, baking, crocheting and embroidery. She made an afghan for each of her grandkids as they graduated. In her early years, she also enjoyed dancing and bingo. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, St. Ann’s Auxiliary, K of C, and a birthday club.
Helen is survived by three sons, James (Audrey) Kostelecky of Bismarck, ND, Ted (Marge) Kostelecky of Dickinson, Ron (Rita) Kostelecky of Indian Wells, CA; three daughters, Shirley Korpi of Palm Desert, CA, Marilyn (Ron) ClarkDean of Indio, CA, Patty (George) Sibet of Monticello, MN; 19 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Kostelecky, Frances Dvorak, and Lillian Hatzenbiler of Dickinson; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Henry; three sisters, Mary Obrig, Tillie Hibl and Lorraine Palmateer; three brothers, Joe, August and John Hatzenbiler, two sons-in-law, Victor Korpi and Bob Ramlo.
