Visitation will continue from 11:30 a. m. to 1:00 p. m. at the funeral home. Helen went home to heaven on Tuesday, March 22, 2016. She passed away at CHI St. Joseph’s Health in Dickinson. Helen was born January 11, 1921, the daughter of Martin and Bessie Knutson. She grew up on the family farm in Dunn County, where she lived all 95 years of her life. Helen attended Halliday Public School for her education. She met Tom McMahen and their romance blossomed into marriage. They were united in Marriage on February 3, 1941 in Wibaux, MT. The couple lived on the farm north of Werner where they raised their three sons and two daughters, Gerald, Sharon, David, Peggy and Jeffrey. Helen loved her farm life, especially in the springtime when all the new farm animals were arriving. She didn’t even mind milking a cow or two. Helen moved to Dunn Center in her later years. She enjoyed town life and she was a member of the Werner Homemakers Royal Neighbors for many years. From Dunn Center, she moved to the Hill Top Home of Comfort in Killdeer and this is where she lived out the rest of her life. Helen always had a smile on her face (until the children started acting up, then we saw her frown). She will be dearly missed. Helen is survived by her children, Sharon (Tom), David (Sandy), Peggy (Jim), Jeffrey (LaDonna); daughter-in-law, Carol; 14 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Tom; son, Gerald; one granddaughter, Lisa.
