Funeral Services for Helen M. Rosencranz, 95 of Hammond, MT will be 10:00 a. m. , Monday, October 5, 2015 at the Stevenson Funeral Home in Ekalaka with Tom Stieg officiating. Burial will be in the Valley View Cemetery at approximately 2:30 p. m. in Broadus, MT. Family will receive friends from 4:00 p. m. – 6:00 p. m. , on Sunday, Oct. 4, at the Stevenson Funeral Home in Ekalaka, MT. Helen passed away on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at Dahl Memorial Healthcare in Ekalaka. Helen M. Lidman was born on July 5, 1920 to Charles Edward & Rose Marie (Brickheimer) Lidman in Fairburn, SD. She went to grade school in Hermosa, SD and then to high school in Lead, SD, graduating in 1939. After high school she worked for Lincoln and Luella Borglund, while he completed Mount. Rushmore for his father, Gutzon Borglum. She then went to the Chicago, IL area and worked for a year or so before returning to South Dakota. On June 7, 1946, Helen married Ernest Rosencranz whom she had met at a dance in Boyes, MT, while visiting her cousins, the Mattsons. In August, 1948, her son, Ronald, was born and in March, 1952, her son, Steven, was born. Helen enjoyed gardening, canning, her bum lambs and her chickens. She especially liked planting and enjoying all her beautiful flowers. During the last few years she has so enjoyed it when the neighbor girls, the redheads, Natalie & Alivia, have been able to come over and have “coffee”. She loved all her extended family, especially Tom & Kathy Stieg and family and Lucky Grummons and family, and always talked about the nieces and nephews that used to come and spend the summer. She is survived by her sons, Ronald (Charlene) of Hammond, MT and Steven (Kathy) Rosencranz of Ekalaka, MT; step-grandchildren, James (Mollie) Smith, North Oaks, MN, Ryan (Stephanie) Smith, Gillette, WY, Janny Clough, Newell, SD and Catriena Lewis, Morristown, SD; ten step-great-grandchildren, Kasandra, Joe & Kerstan Cole, Timber, Tobi, Tanna, Tristan Clough and Cohen, Porter & Kyia Smith; step great-great-grandchildren, TreyLien Clough, Gracelynn Friedt, Kaidyn Clough; sister, Claire Meyer, Allen, TX; brother-in-law Bill Rosencranz of Belle Fourche, SD, Bob Brownfield of Riverton, WY; sisters-in-law, Loyis Lidman, Rapid City, SD, Carlene Rosencranz, Spearfish, SD, Barb Rosencranz and Gloria Rosencranz, Broadus, MT and Gladys Armstrong, Great Falls, MT. Helen is preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Rosencranz; sisters, Josephine Christensen, Lucille Maus, Lenora Starling; brothers, Carl and Raymond Lidman and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law.
