Helen Sandvik, 78, St. Luke?s Home, Dickinson, crossed over to glory?s side on Saturday, March 12, 2005, at St. Joseph?s Hospital and Health Center, Dickinson. Funeral services will be 11 a. m. Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at Daglum Lutheran Church, south of South Heart, ND, with Rev. Roger Dieterle officiating. Interment will be in Daglum Lutheran Cemetery, Daglum, ND. Visitation will be from noon to 9 p. m. Monday, March 14, 2005, at Price-Murphy Funeral Home, Dickinson with a prayer service at 7 p. m. Visitation will continue Tuesday at the church one hour prior to the service. Helen Arne was born on December 5, 1926, in rural Stark County, ND to Lars and Lisa (Tvedt) Arne. She attended Daglum Elementary School to the 8th Grade. Helen then enrolled at Model High School in Dickinson and graduated in 1945 with a teaching certificate. She then taught county school west of Dickinson, Fryburg and substitute taught at Fischer County School south of South Heart. On June 19, 1949, she married Elmer Sandvik at Daglum Lutheran Church. They then farmed on the original Sandvik homestead west of Daglum. In 1975, they retired from farming. but still resided on the farm. Elmer died on April 17, 1994, and Helen moved into Dickinson. She later moved to St. Luke?s Home. Helen enjoyed cooking for her family and making lefse, puzzles, and reading. She was a member of Daglum Lutheran Church, Daglum W. E. L. C. A and Dickinson State University Golden Grad Society. She is survived by: three sons, Dan (Donna) South Heart, Arne (Wendie) San Diego, CA and Mark (Bonny) Watertown, SD; two daughters, Lois B. (Dan) Redka, Williston, ND, Susan (Pete) Sandvik d? Oronzio, Lafayette, CO. ; thirteen grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by: her parents, husband, three sisters and two brothers.
