A funeral service for Helen M. Schneider, 89, of Richardton ND, will be 10:30 a.m., CDT, Saturday, September 23, 2017 at First Baptist Church in Hebron, ND with Pastor Ling officiating. Interment will take place in the Hebron Baptist Church cemetery.
Visitation for Helen will be 6:00-7:00 p.m., CDT, Friday, September 22nd at the church in Hebron with a prayer service being held at 7:00 p.m., CDT.
Helen passed away in her home, surrounded by her family on Sunday, September 17, 2017.
Helen Martha Roth was born November 23, 1927 in Grant County – New Leipzig ND, the ninth of thirteen children and daughter of Ludwig and Mathlida Roth. She grew up on the family farm and attended her first eight grades in country school. Helen received her eighth grade diploma in Grant County, then graduated from High School in New Leipzig. Following graduation, she took her teachers exam and obtained her teachers certificate. Helen taught in rural country schools in Morton and Stark counties.
On December 23, 1947, Helen married Bennie Schneider. The couple made their home on the farm south of Hebron. In 1948, Ben and Helen moved to Hebron where they purchased the Standard Station. In 1959, they moved back to the farm. Helen was employed at the Brick City Drugstore and she had also worked at Woolworth’s in Dickinson. Her hobbies were gardening, canning, baking, sewing and quilting. Helen was a member of the VFW Auxiliary of Dickinson.
Helen is survived by her husband, Ben; daughters, Gayle Kuss (late Ray) of Carrington, Tamera (Greg) Franchuk of Kansas City, KS; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; sister, Olivia (Silas) Ellingson; brother, Richard (Bernadine) Roth; numerous nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Monte Schneider.
