A Funeral service for Helen Schueler, 97, of Baker, will be 10:00 a. m. , Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at First Baptist Church in Baker with Pastor Levi Durfey officiating. Burial will take place in Bonnievale Cemetery. Visitation for Helen will be 3:00 p. m. to 8:00 p. m. , Monday, May 6, 2013 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Baker. Helen passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at Fallon Medical Complex in Baker. Helen Anna (Bruha) Schueler was born April 28, 1916 in a two room house on the Bruha ranch. She was the oldest daughter of Theodore and Barbara (Pergler) Bruha. She attended O’Donnell School for seven years and Berry Morris School for one year. Helen was a hard working girl, helping indoors, outdoors and helping many other families. In 1943, Helen went to Chicago to work for the Western Electric Phone Company factory making war parts for the war. She returned to Baker in 1945. Helen was married to Herbert Schueler on October 20, 1945. To this union, James and Mary Ann were born. Helen is well known for her many kind deeds and her excellent cooking and baking. She cooked for Shut-ins, friends and family. In 1999, Park View retirement home became home for Helen. She will be remembered for her heart of gold. She was honored as “Outstanding Baker Senior Citizen of the Year” in 1999. Helen attended Wesleyan Church and taught Sunday school for 18 years. She was a member of the Mission Circle, serving as a faithful worker and as the president for many years. Since her former church closed, Helen was a member of First Baptist Church. She had been a volunteer worker for 13 years for the Baker Senior Citizens, always sharing her expertise in cooking. Helen is survived by her son, Jim (Darlene) Schueler of Walla Walla, WA; daughter, Mary Ann (Tim) Dean of Bozeman, MT; Brother, Ed (Regina) Bruha of Buffalo, SD; sisters, Lillian (Tom) Byrne of Denton, MT and Theresa (John) Schneider of Libby, MT; four granddaughters, Sheri and Jodi Schueler and Michelle and Traci Dean; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Herbert; brother, Ted Bruha; sisters, Marie Ramber and Barbara Byrne.
