Funeral Services for Helen Tennant, 86 of Camp Crook, SD will be 10:00 a. m. Monday, November 21, 2005 at Ladner Evangelical Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in the Ladner Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, November 20, 2005 from 12:00 p. m. to 7:00 p. m. at Stevenson Funeral Home in Baker, continuing on Monday one hour prior to service at the church. Helen passed away Friday, November 18, 2005 at Southwest Health Care Center in Bowman. Helen was born on March 14, 1919 the daughter of Walter J. and Mary (Hill) Peabody in Ekalaka, MT. She grew up and attended country school in the Pershing area south of Ekalaka and attended one year of high school in Ekalaka. Helen was married to Martin D. Tennant on September 28, 1937 in Ekalaka. To this union seven children were born, Annette, Gary, Louise, Duane, Gail, Earl and Marcia. Helen always claimed Jimmy Lindholm as her fourth son. Together Helen and Martin ranched in the Camp Crook area where they raised their family as well as cattle and sheep. Helen loved animals, especially her cats and dogs. She always had several pets around the house. Helen had many interests which included gardening, sewing, cooking, remodeling, wood finishing and crocheting. She demanded excellence of herself in everything she did as well as teaching those skills and qualities to her children and grandchildren. Helen was a member of the Community Bible Church of Camp Crook. She put her talents to work doing the finish work on the wood walls during the building/remodeling of the Sanctuary in Camp Crook. She is survived by four daughters: Annette Lloyd, Buffalo, SD, Louise (Gene) Jenson, Ralph, SD, Gail (Tom Johnson) Parfrey, Buffalo, SD and Marcia (Warren) Dunn, Buffalo, three sons, Gary (Jean) Tennant, Camp Crook, SD, Duane ?Stub? Tennant and Earl ?Shorty? Tennant both of Gillette, WY; two brothers, Elvin ?Tuffy? Peabody and Freeman (Barb) Peabody both of Ekalaka, MT; a sister, Ita (Harvey) Coons, Ekalaka; two sister-in-laws, Eva Peabody, Helena, MT and Onida ?Sis? Winsor, Missoula, MT; 19 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Gordon and an infant, Earl and her husband, Martin.
