Funeral services for Helen Winckler, 87, of Glen Ullin, ND will be at 10:30 a. m. CST, on Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at the Evangelical Congregational Church in Glen Ullin, ND with Pastor Bill Bradley and Pastor Joel Winckler officiating. Burial will follow at the Glen Ullin Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 p. m. to 8 p. m. with a Prayer Service at 7 p. m. (CST),on Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at Spangelo-Stevenson Funeral Home in Glen Ullin, ND. Helen passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2009 at the Marian Manor in Glen Ullin, ND. Helen (Scheck) Winckler was born February 27, 1922 on the farm in Blue Grass, ND to Andrew and Rosina (Voegele) Scheck. She grew up on the farm and attended country school. After school, Helen moved to Bismarck where she worked for a few years. She later returned to the Glen Ullin area. This is where she met and later married Reuben Winckler on October 4, 1942, at the Gl?eskstahl Church. To this union their son, Doug was born. After marriage the couple settled on a farm North of Glen Ullin. In the mid 60?s, they moved to Bismarck, where they made their home for nearly 30 years. In the early 90?s, they made their way back to Glen Ullin, where Helen has made her home since. Helen was a member of the Evangelical Congregational Church in Glen Ullin. She enjoyed arts and crafts along with painting. She also enjoyed visiting with family and friends. Her grandchild, Wendy Steele, and great-grandchildren, Rebecca and Amanda Steele, were the pride of her life. Helen is survived by her son, Doug, Tempe, AZ; grandchild, Amanda (Ron) Steele, and great-grandchildren, Rebecca and Amanda Steele, all of Glendale, AZ, sisters, Rose Nagel and Lydia Morehouse, both of Glen Ullin, ND and a brother, Ernest (Marian) Scheck, Bismarck, ND. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Reuben, a sister, Erma Wetzel and brothers, Andrew Scheck and an infant brother.
