Martin Fritz was born April 23, 1917, to Joseph and Lucy (O?Brien) Fritz in Belfield, ND. Hank grew up on the family farm north of town and attended country schools in the area. After he finished school, he worked on the farm where he developed an enjoyment for farm machinery. He later joined the CCC for a number of years on various projects before returning home. Several years later, Hank purchased land south of Belfield and began his own diversified farming operation. In 1960, Hank married Verna May Dudley at the Presbyterian Church in Belfield. The couple made their home on the farm and welcomed two adopted boys into their lives, Mark Ray and Martin Emery. Hank made his home on the farm until he retired to Dickinson in 2000. Hank was a people person and greatly enjoyed visiting with family and friends whenever he had an opportunity. He was also a very good mechanic and skilled woodworker. Hank?s family would like to thank the staff at both Evergreen and St. Luke?s care facilities for the great care he received during his time there. He is survived by his step-son, Mark Ray, Billings, MT; brothers, Leslie Fritz, Dickinson, and James (Donna) Fritz, Belfield, ND; and numerous nieces and nephews. Hank was preceded by both parents; his wife Verna May; his step-son, Martin Emery; sisters, Marge Schmelling and Helen Fritz.
