A funeral Mass for Herbert “Herb” Heck, 62, of Belfield will be 10:00 a. m. , Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Belfield with Father Bill Ruelle celebrating. Burial will take place in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery on Thursday, May 5th at 3:00 CST. Visitation for Hebert will be from 2:00 p. m. to 8:00 p. m. , Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at Stevenson Funeral Home with a rosary & vigil service being held at 7:00 p. m. Herb passed away April 23, 2016 at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley, CO. Herbert Lee Heck was born January 16, 1954 in Dickinson, ND, the son of Anton and Monica (Froehlich) Heck. He grew up in the Belfield area on the family farm south of Belfield, which is where he still resided. He attended Belfield School. Herb joined the military out of high school where he served two years in the Army. Herb enjoyed working out, he worked on the oil rigs. Later on he worked in housing and road construction and helped build the airport in Denver, CO. But his true calling was owning his own truck and driving all over the country. He first drove for his brother, Ken, with Ken’s Trucking. Then he purchased his own truck and had his own trucking company, Heck Transport. He trucked for about 25 years. Herb loved to come home to the family farm and help his dad and Ray and George with the farming. He also loved power pulling with his brothers, Ray & Ken. Herb is survived by his children, Kelli & Konner; brothers, Ray & Georgian and Ken & Susan, both of Belfield, ND, Eddy & Karen of Rhame, ND; sisters, Bernice & Dan Poliandro and Charlene & Robert Johnson, both of Las Vegas, NV, Florence & Terry Haugen of Auburn, WA, Esther & Daryl Vance of Spearfish, SD, Jeannie & Leland Mann of Cottage Grove, MN and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; nephew, Daniel Gonzales; niece, Demarus Heck and numerous aunts and uncles.
