Herbert Terras

Funeral services for Herbert Terras, 92, of Hebron, ND, will be held 10:30 a. m. CDT Saturday, April 10, 2010, at St. John in Hebron. Burial will follow the service at St. John?s Cemetery in Hebron. Visitation will be 4:00 p. m. to 8:00 p. m. CDT Friday, April 9, 2010, at Spangelo-Stevenson Funeral Home in Hebron with a prayer service held at 7:00 p. m. CDT. Herbert passed away on Sunday, April 4, 2010, at Marian Manor HealthCare Center in Glen Ullin, ND. Herbert Terras was born September 25, 1917, to Louis and Louise (Imhoff) Terras in Hebron, ND. He grew up and attended country school west of Hebron. As a young man in 1939, Herbert began farming southwest of Hebron and continued farming until 1985. Herbert made Hebron his home most of his life. In 2003, he moved into the Edgewood Vista in Bismarck, ND, before moving to Marion Manor HealthCare Center in Glen Ullin where he has made his home since. Herbert enjoyed fishing, woodworking, gardening and deer hunting. He was a member of St. John Church for more than 30 years, sang in the choir and was past president of the church council. Herbert always enjoyed traveling to see his sister, and he also took many bus tours of the eastern United States fall foliage, Branson, MO, and even other tours to Europe. Herbert is survived by his nephew, Clyde (Holly) Terras, Hebron, ND; niece, Maxine (Terry) Follman, Leeds, ND; nine great-nephews and nieces; and 15 great-great nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Robert, Jacob, Emmanuel, and Edwin; one sister, Ida, a sister-in-law, Frieda Terras and a niece, Karen Wahl.
