Funeral Services for Herman Berg 83, of Killdeer, ND is Tuesday, May 20, 2003, 2:00 p. m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Killdeer with Pastor Aanen Gjovik, officiating. Interment will follow at Killdeer Cemetery with the Ezra Barrows Post #46 having Military Rites. Visitation is Monday from 11:00 a. m. to 9:00 p. m. at Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel continuing on Tuesday from 8:00 a. m. to 10:00 a. m. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to service.


Herman passed away Friday, May 16, 2003, at Watford City, ND.


Herman was born February 1, 1920 on the family farm So of Watford City to Kristopher and Amanda (Thompson) Berg. He grew up and attended country schools at south of Watford City. Herman enlisted in the US Army on May 5, 1942 and served in the European Theater. Herman came through the Battle of the Bulge and was awarded the Bronze Medal. Herman was married to Adele Turgi on September 27, 1947 in Watford City and spent the next 55 years together. After a short time in Grand Forks they moved to Watford were Herman began working for the McKenzie Electric Coop as a line supervisor. In 1950 Herman was transferred to Killdeer were he worked until 1984 when he retired.


He enjoyed reading, visiting with his friends, attending rodeos and being outdoors. Herman especially loved and enjoyed his family and granddaughters. Herman was a member of the Killdeer Fire Department, American Legion, which he served on the Drill Teem, the Killdeer Saddle Cub and St. John’s Lutheran Church.


Survivors include, his wife, Adele of Killdeer; three sons, Richard, Dickinson, Raymond, Bismarck and Darryl (Diane), Killdeer; two brothers, Sten, Concrete, WA and Kenneth of Dickinson; two sisters, Bernice Berg, Watford City and Esther Skaar, Keene, ND and two granddaughters, Courtney and Brittney. His parents, two sons, Sherman and DuWayne and a brother, Edward, preceded him in death.
