Funeral Mass for Hilda Kaufman, 85, Dickinson, ND, will be at 10:00 a. m. , Monday, August 22, 2011 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church with Father Jeff Zwack celebrating. Burial will be at the Lefor Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 p. m. to 6:00 p. m. , Sunday, August 21, 2011, at Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson, ND, with a Rosary service at 4:00 p. m. Hilda passed away Thursday, August 18, 2011, at St. Benedict?s Health Center, Dickinson, ND. Hilda Kampf was born May 26, 1926, in Stark County, North Dakota the daughter of John and Mary (Bleizeffer) Kampf. She grew up on the family farm and attended the local country school. After her schooling, she continued to help on the farm for several years. On June 11, 1945, Hilda married Peter Kaufman at Lefor. Together they farmed, ranched and raised their family of four children. To this union Gerald, Rick, Wayne and Gregory were born. In 1987, they moved into Dickinson where they made their home. Hilda was a great cook and an avid reader. She enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers. In her free time, she could be found working on her scrapbooking and craft projects. Hilda loved to care for all animals, especially cats and dogs. She was a member of the Gladstone Homemakers Club, 4-H Leader and the German Hungarian Club. Hilda is survived by her sons, Gerald (Chris) Kaufman of Arroyo Grande, CA, Rick (LaVerne) Kaufman of Bismarck, ND, Wayne (Sandy) Kaufman of Gladstone, ND, and Greg (Adele) of Truman, MN; 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; a brother-in-law, Elven (Kathy) Kaufman of Lefor, ND and two sisters-in-law, Mary Wegh of Laurel, MT and Catherine Kaufman of CA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pete Kaufman; her parents, John and Mary Kampf; one brother, John Kampf and two sisters, Mary Kohl and Anne Hartinger.
