Funeral Services for Howard O. Breitbach, 87, of Bismarck, North Dakota, formerly of Baker, Montana are11:00 a. m. , Monday, March 16, 2009 at St. John?s Catholic Church in Baker, with Father Thomas Tobin, celebrating. Burial will follow in St. John?s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, March 15, 2009 from 3:00 p. m. to 9:00 p. m. with a Rosary & Prayer Service at 4:00 p. m. at Stevenson Funeral Home in Baker. Howard passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at Medcenter One in Bismarck. Howard Breitbach was born on the family homestead north of Circle, Montana, on August 24, 1921, the son of Joseph and Bertha (Hoeser) Breitbach. He grew up and attended elementary country school and graduated from Circle High School in 1938. He joined the CCC before enlisting in the US Army Air Force and served during WW II for four years. He returned to the Circle area where he taught school for several years. He then received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Montana State in Bozeman. On September 10, 1949, Howard married Bernadette Gappa in Circle, Montana. In 1951 they moved to Baker, Montana where he taught Vo-Ag in the Baker School System for the next 33 years. During this time, Howard was also the FFA advisor at Baker High School, and managed the ticket sales for the Fallon County Fair Board during the summer months. Howard was a member of the American Legion, St. John?s Catholic Church, and was a 4th Degree Knight for the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed sports of all kinds and announced all of the Baker Spartan football games for 30 years. Howard especially enjoyed watching his children and grand-children in all of their sporting events. He also liked to play cards, bowl, and could build or repair any project he took on. He is survived by his wife, Bernadette ?Detta?Breitbach, Bismarck; six sons: Kenny Breitbach, Gillette, WY, Tony (Rita) Breitbach, Parker, CO, Rodney (Karen) Breitbach, Bismarck, David (Jerri) Breitbach, Baker, Thomas (Marci) Breitbach, Clyde Park, MT, Greg (Kara) Breitbach, Grand Forks, ND; four daughters: Beverly (Joe) Mayernik, Lewistown, MT, Mary (Mitch) Anderson, Moscow, ID, Laurie (Doug) Vanderpan, Bismarck; Sharon (Pat) Boehmer, Carrington, ND; one sister, Doline Schlepp, Billings, MT; twenty-five grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers: Sylvester, Johnnie, Bob and Paul Breitbach.
