Howard Payne

Howard Payne, 72, Dickinson, formerly of Regent, died Friday, April 11, 2003, in Bismarck. Funeral Services will be 10 a. m. on Friday, April 18, 2003, at Price-Murphy Funeral Home, Dickinson, with Pastor Harold Sundgren officiating. Interment will be 1:15 p. m. on Friday, April 18, 2003 at Regent Cemetery, Regent. Visitation will be at Price-Murphy Funeral Home on Friday from 8 a. m. to 10 a. m. Everette Howard Payne was born July 16, 1930, in Isabel, SD, the third child and first son of David and Martha (Radke) Payne. Howard married Ellen B. Lineaweaver in Lemon, SD on September 9, 1951. Howard and Ellen made their home on the north side of Black Butte for five and one half years. In 1957 they moved to the south side of Black Butte. In July of 2001 they moved into their present home in Dickinson where they celebrated their 50th and 51st wedding anniversaries. He never considered himself retired and made many trips to his beloved farm where his daughter, Rita and her husband Gary, Travis and E. J. now live, farm, raise cattle, horses, ducks and chickens. Howard is survived by: his wife, Ellen, Dickinson; children, Raymond, Dickinson, Rhonda (Tony) Gawrylow, Zap, ND and Rita (Gary) Helfenstein, Regent, ND; grandchildren, Michelle (Darcy) Fossum, Gladstone, Dustin, Robert and Autumn Gawrylow, Zap, ND, Travis Helfenstein, Regent, Celena Helfenstein, Mandan, Crystal Helfenstein, Regent and Eleisha Janee Helfenstein, Regent; great grandchildren, Acacia and Ayanna Fossum, Gladstone; brothers, Clinton (Violet) Payne, Regent and Orville (Diane) Payne, Mandan; sister, Lila Seelye, Hurst, TX; brothers-in-law, Fred Kling and Tony Greff. He was preceded in death by: his parents and two sisters, Blanche Kling and Gladys Greff.
