Funeral Service for Ida Lang, 87, of Plevna, MT will be 11:00 a. m. on Tuesday, September 15, 2009, at the First Baptist Church in Plevna, MT with Pastor Ernie Lambright officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot in the Community Union Cemetery at Plevna. Visitation will be 2:00 p. m. to 9:00 p. m. on Monday, September 14th, in the Chapel of Stevenson Funeral Home in Baker with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p. m. Ida passed away on Thursday, September 10, 2009, at the Fallon Medical Complex Nursing Home in Baker. Ida Lang was born on June 21, 1922, a daughter of George and Emilia (Fuchs) Follmer in a small sod house at the Follmer homestead, 13 miles southwest of Plevna, MT. Ida graduated from Plevna High School. Following graduation, Ida worked in the Plevna area. During a church gathering at the Lang place east of Baker, MT, which is currently Norman Lang’s, Ida met Christ Lang. The two became friends. Eventually, Ida and some of her sisters moved to Washington State where she worked various jobs in the Seattle area. On March 6, 1946, Ida married her long time friend, Christ Lang, in Tacoma, WA. To this union, Gary and Linda were born. Following Christ?s discharge from the Air Force, Ida and Christ worked for a short time in Ottoma Pass, WA as well as Yakima, WA where they picked fruit . Ida and Christ returned to Plevna and purchased a farm three miles west of town. Ida and Christ lived on the farm until 1977, at which point they moved into Plevna and made their home. Ida was a faithful member of the Plevna First Baptist Church. She was a member of the church choir, taught sunday school and was the long time janitor for the church. Ida was actively involved in the Plevna Senior Citizens. One of Ida?s passions was gardening, and she was also a terrific cook. Ida is survived by her son, Gary (Connie) Lang of Plevna, MT; her daughter, Linda Smith of Phoenix, AZ; four grandchildren, Brent Duffield, Joni (Karsten) Finseth, Joshua (Lisa) Lang and Troy Duffield; two great grandchildren, Koen Lang and Aubrey Finseth and her sister, Amelia Snyder of Centralia, WA. Her parents, and her husband, Christ, two sons-in-law. Kenneth Duffield and Lynn Smith, her brothers, Henry, Otto, Rudolph, Edward, Herman and Richard, and her sisters, Louise, Emma, Minnie and Bertha preceded her in death.
