A Funeral service for Inga Lawhead, 97, of Killdeer, will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 2, 2012, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Killdeer with Pastor Steve Schou and Dean Adams officiating. Burial will follow at Killdeer Cemetery.
Visitation for Inga will be 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, July 1, 2012 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Killdeer. Visitation will continue one hour before the service at the church.
Inga passed away Thursday, June 28, 2012 at Hill Top Home of Comfort in Killdeer, ND.
Inga Kjos was born November 22, 1914 on her Dad’s homestead southwest of Killdeer, the daughter of Anders and Randi (Eid) Kjos. She lived on the family farm in Dunn County until 1922, then lived in Killdeer until 1933. Inga attended some country grade school houses, Killdeer Grade School and Killdeer High School. On February 28, 1933, Inga was united in marriage to Glen Lawhead in Glendive, Montana. They lived northwest of Grassy Butte until 1938, then moving northwest of the Killdeer Mountains, living there until 1947. As the family of six children was growing, Inga was involved as a Cub Scout Den mother. She was a creative seamstress sewing clothing and costumes for many generations. She was active in women of the church, Homemakers, Thimble Club, and St. John’s Quilting Circle. Because of her quilting talents many of her quilts were displayed at the Dickinson Library. Over the years she received many quilting awards. Each member of her family cherishes the quilts that were made with love. They were given for all births, graduations, weddings, and other special occasions. As an accomplished artist, she also enjoyed drawing, sketching, and painting. Inga is survived by her daughters, Joyce (Neale) Hoots of Killdeer, Randi Adams of Dickinson, Lois (Matt) , MT; sons, Gary (Edna) Lawhead of Killdeer, Loren (Janice) Lawhead of Fairview, MT; sister, Randi Alice Prchal of Billings, MT; Seventeen grandchildren; Thirty great-grandchildren and Seven great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Glen; one infant daughter; two great grandchildren; one brother; four sisters; and one son-in-law.
