Marta Hilda Ingrid Magnusson Jesperson was born August 11, 1917 in Stockholm Sweden to Arvid and Berta Magnusson. Ingrid was the eldest of four daughters. After completing her education, Ingrid worked in secretarial service for 12 years. She met the love of her life, William Jesperson at a dance in Stockholm during World War II. Bill was serving in the United States Air Force doing special missions at this time. After meeting only twice, Bill and Ingrid continued to write back and forth over the course of a year and a half. Ingrid received Bill?s long distance marriage proposal complete with a ring in the mail. Upon accepting Bill?s proposal, Ingrid went on the adventure of a lifetime. She traveled by ship to Ellis Island, NY where Bill was waiting for her to take Ingrid back to her new home in Ekalaka, Montana. They were married November 10, 1946 in Baker, MT. Life was quite a challenge for Ingrid at this time as she didn?t speak any English and the ranching lifestyle was new to her but she learned quickly and made a success of her life and home. During the course of their marriage Bill and Ingrid were blessed with five children, Ruth, Robert, twins Kenneth and Donald, and Keith. Bill and Ingrid made their home at the family ranch until moving into town in 2005. Through the years Ingrid enjoyed cooking, gardening, canning, and dancing at local dances. One of the great hobbies for Ingrid and Bill was square dancing. They traveled to many places in the United States and Canada. Ingrid spent many hours sewing and designing matching dance costumes for the dances. In 1973 – 27 years after coming to the United States Ingrid was able to travel back to Sweden to see her family. Prior to Bill?s passing in 2006, they were able to make two more trips back to Sweden, which Ingrid loved to do! Ingrid passed away January 7th, 2013 at Dahl Memorial Healthcare Nursing Home after spending the last 7. 5 years of her life there. She thoroughly enjoyed her time at DMHA and formed several lasting bonds during her stay with them. Ingrid is survived by her daughter, Ruth Hamman of Hartford, KS, three sons, Robert (Sylvia) Jesperson, Denver, CO, Kenneth (Becky) Jesperson of Ekalaka, Keith (Susan) Jesperson of Billings, MT; two sisters, Ruth Lindberg and Barbro (Roland) Frolander of Sweden; 12 grandchildren, Kenny (Jenny), Darla Jesse), Jay (Karen), Charlotte (Troy), Patty (Dave), Becky (Erik), Molly, Chancy, Juanita (Aaron), Cassidy (Tandi), Natasha, and Dustin and 27 great grandchildren.
