Funeral Mass for Ione Roll, 82, of Dunn Center will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 2, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Killdeer. Burial will follow at the Dunn Center Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., on Thursday, June 1, 2017 with Rosary and Vigil being held at 6:00 p.m. at Stevenson Funeral Home, Killdeer. Visitation will continue Friday one hour prior to the Mass at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
Ione passed away on Sunday, May 28, 2017 at the Hill Top Home of Comfort in Killdeer, ND
Ione Helen was born February 4, 1935 in Krem, ND, the daughter of Herbert and Helen (Krieger) Oster. Growing up she attended grade school, later graduating from Hebron High School in 1953. Ione married Allen Roll on November 12, 1957. The couple was blessed with five children. They lived in Burt for several years until they purchased a farm near McClusky. Throughout their lifetime, they also lived in Mercer, Westhope ND, Colorado and Utah before retiring in Dunn Center ND in 1983. Ione worked as a cook, manager of a diner, CNA, as a Ward Clerk of medical records and as Dunn Center Judge. She was a woman of many talents who could also fix or mend anything around the house. Ione enjoyed gardening, flower gardens, fishing, golfing and playing cards where she was very competitive. She was a great cook, making the best caramel rolls and she self-taught herself to crochet and knit. She loved playing with her children and she could ‘pinch hit’ anytime. Ione was also fond of auctions and rummage sales. She was especially family orientated and never missed an event to support them.
Ione’s family is truly grateful to Hill Top Home of Comfort for the wonderful care they provided to Mom.
Ione is survived by her husband, Allen; her children, Norma (Richard) Bauer of Westhope, ND; Brad (Jan) Roll of Lyman, WY, Darcy (Jim) Wardell of Wells, NV, and Kirk (Crystal) Roll of Dunn Center, ND; sister, Eileen (Terry) Melman of Ann Arbor, MI; 21 grandchildren and 37 (soon to be 38) great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Kelly Roll; brothers, Marvin, Vernon, Alvin and Dean Oster.
