Irene Jahraus

A funeral service for Irene Jahraus, 81, of Minot, ND, formerly of Hebron, will be 11:00 a. m. CST, Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at St. John’s Church in Hebron, ND with Pastor Gaylund Olson officiating. Burial will take place in St. John’s Cemetery. Visitation for Irene will be 4:00 p. m. to 7:00 p. m. CST, Monday, January 19, 2015 at Spangelo-Stevenson Funeral Home, Hebron, with a prayer service being held at 7:00 p. m. CST. Irene passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at Maple View in Minot, ND. Irene was born March 1, 1933 in New Leipzig, ND, the only daughter of Otto and Christine (Holwegner) Neumann. Growing up she attended rural school through the eighth grade, later graduating from Elgin High School in 1953. Irene went to Dickinson State College during the summer months and later taught rural school for four years. While she was teaching at rural school, she met the love of her life, Eugene Jahraus. Eugene and Irene married on October 20, 1959 and were blessed with two daughters; Ruby and Nancy. Irene loved sewing, taking care of her huge garden, flowers, crafts, knitting, crocheting, cross-stitch and building some of her furniture. She also found pleasure sewing and taking care of her yard at home and on the farm. Irene helped with the “Soups-On” for the Mayer Theatre, where she won a few poster contests. Irene has been a resident of Hebron since 1963. She moved to Minot in December, 2013 where she became a resident of Maple View. Irene was very helpful in activities and outings with the home. Irene is survived by her daughters; Ruby (Greg) Johnson of Minot, ND, and Nancy Scoular of Aberdeen, SD, four grandchildren; James Dyson of Great Falls, MT, Caremella Johnson of Minot, ND, Jessica Scoular of Beck Row, England and Joana Scoular of Aberdeen, SD; and her beloved dog Molly. She is preceded in death by the love of her life, Eugene; parents, Otto & Christine Neumann; and infant brothers, Bernard and Arnold.
