Irene Mjolhus

Funeral service for Irene Mjolhus, 96, of Dunn Center, will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at Normanna Lutheran Church in Dunn Center with Pastor Dorothy Stein officiating. Burial will follow in the Dunn Center Cemetery.

Irene passed away July 8, 2022 at Hilltop Home of Comfort in Killdeer. 

Irene Fandrich Mjolhus, daughter of Benjamin Fandrich and Mary Mueller Fandrich, was born February 20, 1926 on the family farm north of Golden Valley.  She attended school at Beaver Creek No. #1 until the eighth grade.  Irene helped out at the farm until 1948. She had also worked at several jobs around the Stanton and Hazen area. On January 7, 1955, Irene married Rueben Mjolhus at Normanna Church of Dunn Center. To this union, one son Roger was born.  Irene enjoyed doing quilting and fancy work, and jigsaw puzzles.  She lived on the farm all of her life.

Irene entered Hilltop Home of Comfort May 4, 2022 and passed away July 8, 2022. The family would like to thank all of the staff at Hilltop Home of Comfort.

Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Rueben; parents, Benjamin and Mary; two sisters, Emma and Alma; three brothers, Ewald, Emil, and Norman; two brothers-in-law; two sisters-in-law; two nieces and one nephew.

She leaves behind her son, Roger and his wife Marlene of Dunn Center; one sister, Wilma Kling; two step-grandchildren Shawn Thompson and Kimberly (Eric Cruz – fiancée) Thompson; four step-great-grandchildren, Alex, Achilles, Athena, and Astrea; two special friends, Debra K. Heiser and Clare Messmer; many nieces and nephews.
