Irene Skwiera

Funeral Mass for Irene Skwiera 98, of Dickinson, ND, formerly of Flensburg, MN, will be 10:30 a. m. Thursday, October 18, 2007 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Flensburg, MN with Father Raymond Donnay Celebrating. Visitation will take place Wednesday, October 17, 2007 from 6:00 p. m. to 8:00 p. m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Flensburg, MN, with a Rosary Service taking place at 7:00 p. m. Irene passed away Thursday, October 11, 2007 at St. Benedict?s Health Center in Dickinson, ND. Irene Skwiera was born November 28, 1908 to John and Anna (Batala) Wacholtz in Urbank, MN. She married Steve Skwiera and they operated Skwiera?s Store in Flensburg, MN until retirement. Irene resided in Dickinson for the last several years. Irene was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Flensburg as well as member of Sacred Heart Rosary Sodality and a Crosier Apostolate and also a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church of Dickinson. Irene loved cooking, and baking, and was best known for her pies. She also enjoyed working on jigsaw puzzles and cheering on her beloved Minnesota Twins. Irene?s faith was very important to her as she dearly loved the Rosary. She is survived by her son John (Ann) Skwiera of Rugby, ND; two daughters, Mary (Jim) Irsfeld of Dickinson, ND; Lorraine (Chuck) Gress of Salem, OR; a sister, Louise Oksness of Richfield, MN; a sister-in-law, Tootie Cimenski of Flensburg, MN; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a special friend, Tillie Havelka. She was preceded by her husband Steve, both of her parents, three brothers and two sisters. Family suggest memorial to St. Benedicts Health Center, Evergreen, or Trinity School Systems. Shelly Funeral Chapel of Little Falls, MN is in charge of all the local arrangements.
