Irma Hovden, 86, Dickinson, formerly of Killdeer, died November 28, 2003 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Funeral services are 2:00 p. m. Saturday, December 6, 2003 at St. John?s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Killdeer, with Rev. Aanen Gjovik, officiating. Interment will be in Haven of Rest ?Whetstone? Cemetery, rural Killdeer. Visitation will be at Price-Murphy Funeral Home Friday from 10 a. m. ? 9 p. m. with a prayer service at 5:00 for family and friends. Visitation will continue Saturday at the church one hour prior to the service. Irma Hovden is survived by: one son, Walter (Sandra) Hovden, Killdeer; two daughters, Hollace (Charlie) Bice, Killdeer and Lindsey Hovden, Albuquerque, NM; five grandchildren, Wylie (Vickie) Bice, Killdeer, Wade Bice, Pierre, S. D. , Sherry Hovden, Burlington, VT, Wendy (Scott) Krank, Fargo, N. D. , Jan Hovden, Lawrence, KS; five great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Lakken and Mason Bice and Casey and Emerson Krank; two sisters, Winnifred Brown, Mandan, N. D. and Dorothy Kubik, Dickinson, N. D. ; one brother, Weston Goth, Madison, S. D. She was preceded in death by: her husband, Edgar; four brothers, Willfred, Ted, Wendell and Arlie Goth. Irma Goth was born October 19, 1917 in Hammer, South Dakota to Hans and Bertha Hogan Goth. Her father built flour mills, moving the family throughout North Dakota, where Irma attended schools, graduating from Dunn Center High School. She worked in the State Capitol during Governor Langer?s term and was a graduate of Dickinson State University, earning a Standard Certificate in 1941 and her Bachelor of Science in Education in 1971. She married Edgar Hovden June 20, 1942 at St. John?s Lutheran Church and they ranched at Whetstone, west of Killdeer. Irma was a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star serving as Worthy Matron in 1960. She was Superintendent of Sunday School for Whetstone Lutheran Sunday School and had recently been named to the Advisory Board of Andrew House, an assisted living facility in Albuquerque. She enjoyed spending time with her family, was an accomplished seamstress and tough to beat in a game of bridge or pinochle. Memorial contributions may be made to Whetstone Cemetery, Killdeer, N.
