Ivy Ungerecht

Funeral Service for Ivy Ungerecht, 89, of Glen Ullin will be 10:00 a. m. CDT, Friday, November 11, 2011 at Evangelical Congregational Church, Glen Ullin, with Pastor Bill Bradley officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Ullin Cemetery. Visitation for Ivy will be from 4:00 p. m. to 6:00 p. m. CDT, Thursday, November 10, 2011 at Spangelo-Stevenson Funeral Home, Glen Ullin. Ivy passed away Monday, November 7, 2011 at her home in Glen Ullin, ND. Ivy A. Waechter was born February 18, 1922 in New Salem, the daughter of William and Louise (Schedel) Waechter. She grew up and attended grade school in the New Salem and Judson area. Ivy?s father worked with the railroad, which moved the family to Taylor, Judson and New Salem. In her early years, while helping out at home, Ivy enjoyed rollerskating, dancing and taking passes on the railroad to Minneapolis. On April 5, 1942, Ivy was united in marriage to Paul Ungerecht in New Salem. To this union three sons were born. Ivy was a dedicated housewife and mother and she enjoyed baking and cooking. Her family was her first love. The couple made their home in Glen Ullin, which is where Ivy spent her entire life. Ivy was a very active lady. In her early years, she was a member of a Homemakers Club. She was a member of the First Congregational Church for 60 years, helped with the church choir, Vacation Bible School, Women?s Fellowship, and taught Sunday School. Ivy also enjoyed traveling to New Salem to visit her family. She spent a few months in Marion Manor Health Care before returning home in August. Ivy is survived by her sons, Jim Ungerecht and Sherill Ungerecht of Glen Ullin. Ivy is preceded in death by her husband Paul; son Gary; sisters, Amanda Kirchmeier, Vesa Schwartz and Edna Morman; and brother Charley Waechter.
