Funeral Mass for James Theodore Braun, 65, of Killdeer will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 10, 2011, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Father Darnis Selvanayakam celebrating. Burial will be in the Killdeer Cemetery in Killdeer, ND. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Killdeer, North Dakota.
James passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at his home in Killdeer, ND.
Jim was born on July 7, 1946, the son of Louis and Katherine (Schwindt) Braun in Dunn County. He grew up and attended school in Killdeer, graduating from Killdeer High School in 1964. Shortly after graduation, Jim enlisted into the US Navy where he served for four years. After being honorably discharged in 1969, Jim returned to Killdeer where he began working. Jim worked construction throughout the western United States, taking on jobs from owning his own semi-truck to managing various businesses and companies. Jim was married to Jo Piano on January 22, 1983, and to this union their son, Justin was born. In 2009, Jim returned to Killdeer where he has made his home since. He was currently working for Trotter Construction driving truck. Jim was an avid Green Bay Packer fan, often reciting their earliest championship dates and players to his son. He also enjoyed attending any football game in the areas where he lived. His long time companion “Crazy”, his cat of 18 years, is still with the family today. Jim was always telling a joke and he had the ability to make everyone laugh.
Survivors include, a son, Justin Braun (friend, Ashley Gargiulo) Monument, CO; a daughter, Katherine Barbara Braun, Seattle, WA; a sister, Gloria Kukla, Dickinson, ND; six brothers, Leo (Maxine) Braun, Dickinson, ND, Raymond (JoAnn) Braun, Redmond, OR, Louis (Jean) Braun, Dickinson, ND, Jerry (Maggie) Braun, Reno, NV, Clarence (Joan) Braun, Mandan, ND and Dan (Sharon) Braun, Killdeer, ND; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Frank.
