Funeral Services for James Christensen, 62, of Halliday, will be 10:00 a. m. on Friday, July 23, 2004 at Our Savior?s Lutheran Church, Halliday with Pastor Aanen Gjovik and Pastor Richard Melchert, officiating. Interment will follow in Werner Cemetery. Visitation is Thursday from 12:00 p. m. to 9:00 p. m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p. m. at Stevenson-Mischel-Olson Chapel, Killdeer. James passed away Sunday, July 18, 2004 at Sakakawea Medical Center. James was born October 12, 1941 to Clarence and Kathryn (Darcy) Christensen on the family farm near Dunn Center. He grew up and attended Country Schools and later graduated from Werner High School in 1959. James was enlisted in the U. S. Army in 1960 and served 4 years, which took him to Germany for some time. After he was honorably discharged in 1964, he returned to the Werner Area where he worked building construction for several years. James then began employment for area farms and ranches. After the death of his father, he took over the family farm with his mother. He also owned his own scrapper with which he built many stock dams in the area up until the time of his death. James enjoyed listening to country music, participating in rodeos and dancing. He was always ready to help a neighbor whenever asked. James shared his last 9 years with a very special friend, Irene Peterson. James is survived by his mother, Kathryn Christensen of Mandan, ND, sister, Dee (Bernie) Neibauer of Mandan, ND, two brother-in-laws, Richard Meier of Jewell, KS and Dean Jones of Lincoln, KS, special friend, Irene Peterson of Dodge, ND and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, 2 sisters, Ellen Jones and Sandra Meier.
