James Christensen

Jim Christensen, 71, Dickinson, died January 15, 2005, at his home. Funeral services will be 10:30 Tuesday, January 18, 2005 at the Evangelical Bible Church, Dickinson with the Pastors Rick Stevens and Tim Privratsky officiating. Military Rites will be provided by the Dickinson Veterans Drill Team. Interment will be 10 a. m. Wednesday, at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Visitation will be Monday from 9 a. m. to 7 p. m. at Price-Murphy Funeral Home, Dickinson. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Jim Christensen was born October 22, 1933, in New England, to C. M. and Agnes (Dubisar) Christensen. He graduated from New England High School and North Dakota State University. He served in the US Navy from June, 1953 to May, 1956. Jim married Arlene Petersen on May 21, 1957, in Belle Fouche, S. D. They made their home in Dickinson. He was the owner-operator of Ideal Mobile Homes with his father. In 1985, he closed the business and became a realtor with West Plains Reality. Jim retired in 1998, and worked as a major catastrophe claims adjuster. He also drove cars for K&D Motors and Dan Porter Motors. Jim was a Board Member of Evangelical Bible Church, N. D. Mobile Home Association, where he was the treasurer for many years. Jim also was a volunteer fireman for 15 years, served on the Dickinson Parks and Rec. Board and was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed fishing and camping and he especially enjoyed his family and being a handy man. Jim Christensen is survived by his wife, Arlene, Dickinson; his children, Ron (Mary Kay), Chico, Calif. , Gordon (Julie), Mesa Ariz. , Paula (Dave) Culver, Spearfish, S. D. , and Mitch (Amy); ex-daughter-in-law, Renelle Christensen, Mesa, Ariz. ; 14 grandchildren; two sisters, Gloria ( Fred) Hansen, Williston, N. D. , and Cherie (Bill) Morris, Tucson, Ariz. ; one brother, Milbern (Bertha) Christensen, New England, N. D. He was preceded in death by his parents. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to: Heartland Hospice, 30 West 7th Street, Dickinson, N. D.
