James Hauck

Jim Hauck of Richardton, ND, went through his Last Chute Number on the way to the Glory Pasture on Friday, February 16, 2018 at Hill Top Home of Comfort, Killdeer, at the age of 74.

Jim’s rodeo events included riding bareback broncs and bull riding (went to the National High School Rodeo in these events), and calf roping. He enjoyed the quiet calmness of a Cowboy’s life.

Jim served our country from 1962-1966 in the Air Force. He loved to travel and spent a couple of years in the late 60s in Europe, Scandinavia, Africa, Turkey, the Middle East, and Greece. During the 1970s and 1980s, he lived and worked in Oklahoma.

The world was blessed by Jim’s personality and his music. He made so many people happy as he played his guitar and sang “old songs” to those who were not feeling well or when he was playing with the Friday Night Gang. He was an avid reader. Jim always had time to listen to other people and their stories. He was a kind soul and made people’s lives better when he was around.

Jim was number three out of seven children born to Alex J. and Hildegard (Huthmacher) Hauck in Richardton, ND. He is survived by many friends and relatives as well as five siblings:
Elaine
(Hauck) Tormaschy,
Mel
Hauck,
Della
(Hauck) Schwab,
Mary
(Hauck) and Terry Bertsch, and
Chuck
and Nancy Hauck. He joins a brother, Ronald D. and his wife Janet Hauck; parents; and other relatives in heaven. He is also survived by the younger cowpokes whom he loved like crazy: nieces, nephews and his Godchildren.

Inurnment for Jim will be held at a later date in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
