James Anson Anderson was born in Regent on August 4, 1936, the son of Elmer V. and Ruth (Matheny) Anderson. Growing up south of Regent, he attended Alden District #5 country school north of the family farm. He graduated from Regent High School in 1953 and attended college in Wahpeton for two years. In 1956, Jim enlisted with the US Army and was honorably discharged in 1958. Jim returned to Regent to farm with his dad. On February 5, 1959, he married his high school sweetheart, Rosella Honeyman, in Mott. The couple was blessed with three daughters, Kim, Marcia and Patsy. The family grew up on the Anderson farm south of Regent. Jim was blessed to farm with his brother David and operated Anderson Brothers Farms. In 1993, Jim and Rosella opened the ‘Fin and Feather Farmstead Bed & Breakfast’ for pheasant hunters to reap the benefits of Jim’s hard work and his love of nature. He was very passionate about tree planting and soil conservation, instilling in his daughters, the duty of caring for the land. In his later years, Jim enjoyed gardening. He was also a skilled welder and contributed his time and talent to working on the “Tin Family” along the Enchanted Highway. Jim was known to always have a project in the works, taking great pride in his yard, farm and wildlife. He enjoyed history and never missed an opportunity to go for a drive to the farm and look over the land. The ‘Anderson Brothers Farm’ has been in the family for over 100 years.
