Funeral service for James C. Ladwig, of Halstad, MN, will be held at 2:00 p. m. , Friday, June 10, 2011 in the chapel of Stevenson Funeral Home, Dickinson. Burial will take place at a later date. Visitation for Jim will be from 11:00 a. m. to 2:00 p. m. , Friday, June 10, 2011 at Stevenson Funeral Home. Jim passed away in Halstad, Minnesota. James C Ladwig was born June 10, 1949 in Hettinger, ND the son of Donald and Agnes (Nelson) Ladwig. He grew up and attended school in Hettinger, graduating from Hettinger High School in 1968. Jim went to work in Lead, SD for the Homestake Mining Company where he was a gold miner. On January 4, 1970, Jim married Cheri Trewhella in Lead. To this union three children were born: Donny, Cody and Cory. The couple moved back to Hettinger where Jim was a self employed trapper and hunter. The family then moved to Killdeer where he went to work for Power Fuels for nine years. Later, he moved to Taylor where he was the custodian of the Taylor Elementary School. Jim then had his own construction business for many years. He also worked for Missouri Basin as a truck driver as well as fishing guide on Lake Sakakawea. Jim loved to hunt and fish through out North Dakota and Minnesota. He was an avid fan of the Minnesota Twins and Vikings also watching their games and keeping track of their records. His special love was for his children, grandchildren, his dog Whiskey and cat Cimba. Jim is survived by his three children, Donny (Jennifer) Ladwig, of Dickinson; Cody (Fianc?e Troy Shorey) of Hendrum, MN, and Cory Ladwig of Jamestown; the mother of his children, Cheri Wiegand of Park City, MT; one brother, Thomas (Debbie) Ladwig of Williston; one sister Delores Maynard of Tonasket, WA and five grandchildren, Tate, Landon, Kristina, A. J. , Stephen and Josh. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son-in-law, Jon Paul Fettig.
