A funeral service for James Pope, 59, of Dickinson, will be 11:00 a. m. , Friday, February 14, 2014 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson with Pastor Lisa Lewton officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in Dickinson Cemetery. Jim passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck, ND from complications of the flu/pneumonia. James was born September 23, 1954 in Dickinson, the son of Corthland “Ropey” and Katie (Olheiser) Pope. He grew up and attended school, graduating from DHS in 1972. Following graduation, Jim worked for the Dickinson Briquetting Plant – Royal Oak. For most of his life, he worked with his half-brother, Phil Reisenauer, on the farm. He also enjoyed showing off his cement work around town. Jim enjoyed the outdoors, animals and walking the dogs, nature, shooting and fishing. He also enjoyed visiting his friends. Jim is survived by his soul-mate and companion of 33 years, Carla Weinschrott; 2nd mother, Delores Weinschrott of Dickinson; half-brothers, Philip Reisenauer of Dickinson, Paul (Carol) Reisenauer of Bismarck, Arnie (Rita) Reisenauer of Dickinson; half-sisters, Rosie Zentner of Bozeman, MT and Clara Hanel of New Leipzig; numerous nieces and nephews; all of his big Weinschrott family; and his dog, Toby. Jim was preceded in death by his father, Corthland “Ropey” and 2nd father, Frank Weinschrott; half-brothers, Mike, Walter, Ray, and Pete Reisenauer; half-sisters, Irene Olheiser and Maggie Roshau.
