Janet passed away peacefully on November 15, 2024 at Dahl Memorial in Ekalaka, MT.
Janet was born April 12, 1923, in Houghton, New York to Gilbert and Winifred Clocksene. Janet joined an older sister, Winetta.
The family started out in Houghton, New York but due to hard times Gilbert felt it best to move his family to Montana where Gilbert’s siblings had already settled. The journey started when Janet was 3 years old and another baby was added, Delores. The family loaded up their Model T and headed west. The family settled on a 160-acres relinquishment. Another baby joined the family, Joan April of 1930. The family was complete with 4 girls.
Janet and her siblings attended a country school just about a mile walk from their home. In her growing up years, Janet and her sisters were their father’s hired hands, worked the fields, fed the pigs, milked the cows, and did other chores as well.
When Janet was 14 years old, she accepted Jesus as her personal savior. Attending church was an important part of the Clocksene home. The Medicine Rocks Church was started by many of Janet’s Aunts and Uncles, as well as her parents. Janet was a lifelong member of the Medicine Rocks Church.
Janet and her sister Delores boarded in Baker, Mt., which allowed them to attend high school. Janet graduated from B.H.S. in 1941. After her high school graduation, Janet went on to attend a Christian Jr. College in Miltonvale, Kansas. Following her graduation from Miltonvale, Janet enrolled in Indiana Wesleyan College in Marion, Ind. While attending classes Janet worked the evening shift at the Paranite Wire factory. This company manufactured wire for the war effort, as America was involved in the 2nd World War.
Janet received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in the spring of 1947. The following spring, 1948 Janet started a teaching job in Devils Lake, N.D. This lasted for only a year and half as her mother, Winifred became ill, and Janet was needed at home to care for her mother.
While at home caring for her mother, a neighbor boy caught her attention, David J. Enos. Their relationship continued by mail as Janet took on another teaching job in Hood River, Oregon. As the story goes, David felt he was ready to get married, so Janet asked him! The couple married June 22, 1951. At the age of 28 and 32, the couple started their journey together working the Enos farm. To this union 6 children were born: Muriel Lynn – May -1952, James Mark – Aug. 1953, Peter Ried – Nov. 1954, Rodney David – Sept. of 1958, Paul Douglas – June of 1961, and last but not least Robynn Elaine– Aug. 1965.
Janet loved her role as a mother and wife. Her dedication to her family and her Lord and Savior were very evident. As the years went by, Janet was able to enjoy traveling. It was joked that if there was room in a vehicle Janet was going along. Her hobbies included painting, reading, playing Mexican Train, attending her children and grandchildren’s events.
With family by her side Janet left this world and into the arms of Jesus on Nov. 15, 2024, while a resident of Dahl Memorial Healthcare. Janet lived a full life, 101 years, 7 months and 3 days!
Janet was proceeded in death by her parents, Gilbert and Winifred Clocksene, her husband David, her sister Winetta Cline, and a grandson Andrew Barton Enos.
