A Funeral Service for Janice E. Brockel, 72, of Omaha, NE formerly of Baker, MT will be 1:00 p. m. on Wednesday, December 19, 2012, at First Baptist Church in Baker, MT. Interment will follow in Bonnievale Cemetery at Baker. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Janice Elizabeth Brockel was born in Eureka, South Dakota on February 6, 1940 to Fred and Bertha (Schweigert) Brockel. In 1945, she moved to Baker, Montana with her family and was raised on a farm in the Fertile Prairie area. She attended Country Grade School and graduated from Baker High School with the class of 1958. After graduation, she attended Omaha Baptist Bible College in Omaha, Nebraska. To further her education, she attended the University of Nebraska at Kearney to receive her Teaching Degree. She then attended the University of Nebraska in Omaha obtaining her Masters Degree. She spent a total of 22 years of schooling. For the next 32 years, she was a teacher in the Omaha Public Schools. She especially loved her 3rd grade students she taught and could tell you many stories of her school days. She was highly respected by her Peers. Janice loved the Lord and served faithfully by being a Sunday school teacher, the Primary Department Superintendent at Temple Baptist in Omaha, a Teacher of Joy Clubs and AWANAs. She loved singing in her Church Choir, was the Director of Vacation Bible School and was a member of ?Team Visiting? for the Elderly in different Nursing Homes. She was a member of OEA (Omaha Education Association), the NSEA (Nebraska State Education Association) and NEA (National Education Association). After retirement, Janice loved to travel, did beautiful Cross stitching, was an avid reader, and spent many hours on her lap top. Janice passed away on Sunday, December 9, 2012, at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha, NE following several months of illness. Janice was preceded in Death by her Parents, Fred and Bertha Brockel and a Sister, Arla (Brockel) Opp. Janice is survived by her Brothers: Duane (Della) Brockel of Baker, Montana, Leo (Colleen) Brockel, Gary (Patt) Brockel of Billings, Montana and a Sister, Jorcelene (Manuel) Lang of Phoenix, Arizona. Also several Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and a Host of Friends in Omaha. Her infectious laughter and Love of Life will be treasured. Her many Friends and Family will truly miss her. Memorials may be used according to the family wishes.
